Enjoying Freedom from Fear

Enjoying Freedom from Fear (Taken from the book the Power Of a Praying Parent Chapter 19).

Where does the spirit of fear come from? Does it come from God? Do you have the power and authority through Jesus Christ to resist a spirit of fear on your child’s behalf? Does fear have power over your child? Do you have power over fear?

Fear comes upon us the moment we don’t believe that God is able to keep us, or all we care about, safe. FEAR, or false evidence appearing real, easily strikes children because they can’t always understand what is real and what isn’t. Our comfort helps them, but praying and speaking the word of God in faith, and praising God can free them. Jesus wants us to believe that our boat won’t sink if e’s in it with us.

Parents have authority and power through Jesus to resist the spirit of fear on their childs behalf. We have authority over it, as Jesus gave us authority over all the power of the enemy.

Make a list of anything you are fearful for and your children are fearful for as well. It could be going back to school, worries of furlough and un employment, and the ongoing situation. If it is not possible to ask your child that question, write a prayer asking the Lord to reveal to you any fears in your child. Write down what he reveals to you. It often helps me to remember that we are hidden with Christ in God. He is with us, knows our weaknesses and has given us the holy spirit to be our help and comforter.

Prayer

Lord, your word says “I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears” (Psalm 34v4). I seek you this day believing you hear me, and I pray that you will deliver (name of child) from any fear that threatens to overtake him/her. You said you have “not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1v7). Flood him/her with your love and wash away all fear and doubts. Give him/her a sense of your loving presence that far outweighs any fear that would threaten to overtake him/her. Help him/ her to rely on your power in such a manner that it establishes strong confidence and faith in you. Give him/her a mind so sound that she /he can recognise any false evidence the Devil presents to her/him and identify it as having no basis in reality.

Wherever there is real danger or good reason to fear, give her/him wisdom, protect her/him and draw him/her close to you. Help her/him not to deny her /his fears, but take them to you in prayer and seek deliverance from them. I pray that he/she draws close to you, Your love will penetrate her/his life and crowd out all fear. Plant your word in her/his heart. Let faith take root in her/his mind and soul as she /he grows in your word.

Thank you Lord for your promise to deliver us from all our fears. In Jesus’ name I pray for freedom from fear on behalf of my child today.

A few verses to use as we pray:

1 john 4v18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love

Psalm 91v4-6 He shall cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you shall take refuge. His truth shall be your shield and buckler. You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.

Isaiah 41 v 10 Fear not for I am with you, be not dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you , yes I will help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
